The role 

Reporting into the Head of Programme and Project Management, you will join the team responsible for leading and executing multiple projects and delivery across the project cycle. This role will support various functions of the business giving you exposure to a breadth of work across technology infrastructure, platforms, software development and more.

Key responsibilities will include:

Programme and Project Management

  • Lead, direct and evolve the PPM function, ensuring alignment with the different delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall etc.) and the established governance frameworks
  • Ensure governance is being followed including the monitoring of controls and that recommendations from external control and assurance reviews are implemented as necessary
  • Progress the process and standards for managing risks and issues and link these into appropriate reporting and governance
  • Maintain oversight of a portfolio of projects across multiples functions, sites and geographic locations
  • Manage competing priorities, track dependencies and mitigate risks to ensure completion within the requisite timelines across the PPM portfolio
  • Assess the need for change and identify solutions to improve current working practices
  • Implement reporting, monitoring and evaluation to deliver the transparency into the status of the PPM portfolio for the Board and Executive Management team
  • Plan and oversee CAPEX and operational expenses to meet budget targets in line with team members

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build rapport and trust with the stakeholders to keep the projects/programmes focused and moving
  • Ensure that stakeholders understand their respective project roles (Sponsor, Product Owner, Delivery Owner) and support them as needed
  • Keep senior management appraised about the project/programme status and progress
  • Develop meaningful and accurate reporting on PPM delivery performance
  • Support a matrix management approach to successfully deliver PPM services
  • Run the monthly ‘Path to Green’ process providing insight upwards of status and risk to delivery of key programmes and projects

Team Management

  • Provide day to day line management to the PPM team (~10 established professionals)
  • Proactive resource management to meet delivery plans and manage changes, in line with the agreed roadmap, to ensure the achievement of the firm objectives
  • Mentor, coach and train the PPM team to support their professional development; set and monitor personal objectives, actively seek and share feedback regularly
  • Engender a culture of continuous improvement that promotes best practice

Who are we looking for? 

  • Degree level qualification (or equivalent relevant experience)
  • 10+ years of working in project/programme management across technology infrastructure or software development with a proven track record of successful delivery
  • Experience of improving programme and project management capabilities, knowledge, competence and skills
  • Team leadership capabilities, using both directive and coaching styles, to support a high performance team culture
  • Experience working with diverse teams across a variety of stakeholders to define and deliver best practice PPM
  • Persuasive written and verbal communication
  • Excellent relationship and stakeholder engagement skills
