Internship in Quantitative Research (Data Science/Machine Learning/Mathematical Modelling)

We use the latest scientific techniques and advanced data analysis methods to discover the undiscovered. Our researchers are free to explore ideas, finding patterns in large, noisy and real-world data sets to predict the movements in global financial markets.
You will be given a challenging research project that demands innovative yet pragmatic mathematical and computational approaches. Using rigorous scientific methodology, robust statistical analysis and pattern recognition you will analyse a data ecosystem, extracting deep insights. Your project may give you the opportunity to use statistical and “big data” analysis approaches, machine learning techniques (i.e. neural networks & deep learning; Bayesian non-parametrics) or optimisation methodologies to solve your problems!
For the duration of the Internship, you will be paired with one of our Quantitative Researchers who will mentor you as you work on your project. You will receive structured feedback and reviews to enable you to improve and develop, culminating in a final presentation to senior management of your research ideas. We are a very social firm, and you will also enjoy a full itinerary of social events with your peers throughout the Programme.
The 10-week programme runs from June to August 2019 and is based in the West End of London. We offer a highly competitive salary during the internship and working hours are 9-5.30.
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will at minimum have experience in the following areas:
You will be in your final or penultimate year of a Masters or PhD in a highly numerable subject such as mathematics, physics, statistics, engineering or computer science.
An interest in applying data science, machine learning & optimisation techniques to real-world problems and some experience of programming would be beneficial.
