Data Analyst

The role

The Reference Data team are part of the Data Engineering Group at G-Research.  We are responsible for the modelling and maintenance of all master data relating to a wide variety of financial instruments across multiple asset classes.

Working in a multi-disciplinary team of analysts and engineers, you will support both the Operations and Quantitative Research teams.  This will include regular validation checks on data -  with a particular focus on data analysis of corporate actions - pricing data, and core reference data, along with the addition of new data quality checks as we expand.

You will gain exposure to data relating to a range of global financial assets, and you will be instrumental to our research efforts as we continue to develop new quantitative strategies.

The Reference Data team believes in continuously improving our processes. You will drive and track change across the group by capturing metrics and KPIs, suggesting changes to our methods from the start.

We give people in our team time to learn and develop; this includes using 10% of your time to work on your own ideas, as well as the provision of both internal and external training to increase technical and analytical skills.

This role also provides opportunities to learn about multi-asset class systematic investing strategies and big data development in an innovative and forward-thinking firm.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in a similar role within the financial sector
  • The ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical partners at multiple levels
  • Experience working with structured datasets and data query languages, for example SQL
  • Experience with data visualisation, including systems such as Alteryx, Tableau or the python scientific stack is advantageous
